FK.UK on Twitter

FK.UK is now on Twitter!

The plan is to use it for the latest updates from the world of FK.UK, Associates and friends.

e.g. The latest updates with regards to:

News
Announcements
Events
Courses and Workshops
Links to resources

Etc.

So...if you would like to be kept up-to-date and informed of what is happening, there are a few different ways of checking out the updates.

Of course, the main way is to follow FK.UK on Twitter - on there as FKUK. This way you will of course be able to take full advantage of Twitter technology and reply to the updates, etc.

Otherwise - some of you may have noticed the Twitter updates right hand side of this blog. All updates will be fed through here to the blog too, so you will be able to see what is happening by checking here regularly.

You can also follow the updates using the "Follow me on Twitter" link you will see to the right, below the updates. This will take you to the following page:

http://twitter.com/FKUK - where you can set up an RSS feed if you wish.

Hope that all makes sense. If you have any questions, post them to comments.

Looking forward to making use of this new-fangled technology!

FK.UK Associates: Three New Associates join FK.UK

FK.UK is extremely happy to announce the addition of three Associates to the Team.

These are, in alphabetical order:

The Box: Mark Cooper
CrossFit Reading: Andy Craig
SPQR Fitness: Stephen Hollingdale

This Associate scheme is initially a link up of 3 functional fitness organisations under the FK.UK 'umbrella', combining forces in many different aspects in order to help progress functional fitness specifically within the UK.

The combined wealth, depth and mix of skills & experience of these 3 functional fitness practitioners will be invaluable in pushing forward the aims and objectives of this collaboration including:

* Advancing and developing a UK-Centric functional fitness community and organisation in FK.UK
* Advancing and developing the awareness, interest and participation in functional fitness in the UK, with particular regard to Olympic Lifting.
* Advancing and developing each other and ourselves as proponents of this functional fitness community in FK.UK
* Advancing and developing links between other functional fitness organisations and communities within the UK, in FK.UK, in order to help make the wealth of coaching experience in the UK more accessible to all.

This is certainly a simplified summary of the basis of the Associate relationship. and these aims and objectives will develop along with FK.UK as we move forward.

In the meantime, a very warm welcome to Andy and Mark to the Team, and Stephen to his new role within it.

One Year - Two New Moderators

So...

As FK.UK moves into Year 2 , two familiar members of the forum have kindly accepted my invitation to join Team FK.UK as moderators.

Please join me in welcoming Brew and Franz as part of Team FK.UK! :-D

Welcome on board, and thank you guys.

Your input and support past, present and future is much appreciated.

I look forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with you.

On that note - apologies for the woeful neglect of this blog recently. Will be much more regular now with the new team in place :-)

Cheers

C.

Happy Birthday FK.UK!

All,

So...FK.UK is 1 year old today :-D

Going to keep it short (and try not to make it sound like a Oscar acceptance speech ;) )...

Well, to say it in a sentence...it's been some year!

Just wanted to say thank you to you ALL for making the forum what it is.

I take a lot from this place in a whole heap of respects - and I hope you all get just as much from here as you clearly give.

There are some top peeps on here and I'm lucky enough to have met/trained/chilled with many, and indeed to count many as friends.

I look forward to meeting more of you at meets and events in the near future too.

On that note...two good peeps have kindly agreed to become part of Team FK.UK as forum moderators - see here

Thank you guys.

Here's to the the next year.

Cheers folks :-D

FK.UK 100 Day Burpee Challenge

So...the FK.UK 100 Day Burpee Challenge is now on its 17th day.

Just in case anyone is unfamiliar with it, we started with 1 burpee on Day 1, then 2 burpees on day 2, and so on - adding one each day until we hit 100 on the 100th day.

The idea was taken from Crossfit Santa Cruz - see here for the CFSC page on rules and form standards.

Well done to all that have signed up so far, and have been nailing their burpees each day.

Here is a link to the '100 Day Burpee Challenge' thread on FK.UK.

However its not too late to join! The "buy-in" to join the challenge at any time is ALL the missed day's burpees on your first day - so to buy-in today would involve a mere 153 burpees!

To help with the counting, see below for a spreadsheet that details the number of burpees to do each day and the total number of burpees so far - or buy-in!.
(Thanks to CFSC for the original template for this.)

Here you go: Burpee Challenge Counter

There is also a simple day counter at right at the bottom of this blog for an easy reminder.

Enjoy.

Burpees rule 8-)

CrossFit London and FK.UK

Some of you may have seen the new action-packed i-course on offer from CrossFit London...

For those that haven't - here is the link to the page on the CF London site:
CF London i-Course

FK.UK will be teaming up with CrossFit London to help deliver the first ever i-Course on Sunday 21st September.

This date is now sold out, but there are still tickets left for:
Sunday 7th November
Sunday 2nd December

6 hours of skill teaching for £70 - fantastic value.

Also, as mentioned in the CrossFit London i-Newsletter (see what I did there? ;-)), there will shortly be 5 trainers based in and around London - we are hoping to pool together to run regular CrossFit classes in a central location.

Watch this space for updates :-)
